The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition is proud to host our annual Champions of Character event. The 2025 event will be honoring our Champion of Character, James Spann. Mark your calendars for Thursday, August28 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Central Alabama Community College in Prattville.
The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition, a non-profit organization established in 2007 with the purpose of strengthening our community by fostering character development and education among our citizens, established the Champion of Character Award in 2015 to honor leaders that have displayed exemplary character and encouraged living and leading with good character in daily life. James Spann is a longtime broadcast meteorologist based in Alabama, currently serving as chief meteorologist for ABC 33/40 in Birmingham. He began his career in radio in the 1970s and transitioned to television soon after, working at several stations across the state. Spann is known for his in-depth severe weather coverage and has earned national recognition, including an Emmy Award and the American Meteorological Society’s Award for Broadcast Meteorology. He also hosts the weekly weather podcast "WeatherBrains."
