Character Coalition Presents Character Education Grants to Prattville and Autauga County Educators

Prattville, AL- The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition is proud to present Character Education Grants to educators and schools in Autauga County and the City of Prattville who are serving the children of our community. Since 2017, the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition (PACC) has provided more than $22,000 in Character Education Grants to educators and schools in Prattville and/or Autauga County to teach, expand, highlight and promote good character.

"The importance of character education cannot be over emphasized”, said Greg Duke, President of the

Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition, "and without the involvement of our community and the generous support from individuals, partners and businesses, funding for our annual grant program would not be possible. We know that good character provides a solid foundation for success in school and in life and want our students to be prepared to succeed."

The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition is a non-profit organization committed to teaching and promoting the importance of good character among our residents. In an effort to support character education in our schools, the Character Coalition established Character Education Grants in 2017 to build community support and provide sustainable resources to teach, highlight, and promote strong character development for our children and youth in Prattville and Autauga County. The Character Education Grants, up to $1,000, are designed to promote, implement, enhance and/or expand character education, youth-development focused programs, and character-building projects. These grants are made possible by the generosity of many sponsors, community partners and the Coalition's Champions of Character annual fundraiser.

"Developing good character is an investment in the lives of our youth and children, regardless of economic or social standing, level of education, age, gender or ethnic background", continued Duke. "The Coalition is proud to continue our partnership with educators and schools in our community by providing additional resources to help teach our children and youth good character traits and promoting a seamless integration of applying and practicing these character traits daily. By working together, we are creating a much stronger, safer and better community for us all."

The Prattville-Autauga area was designated as a "Community of Character' in 2006, making it one of only three such communities in our state. PACC inspires and develops character in all areas of the community, helping our citizens to reach their full potential, and making our community stronger and safer. PACC is steered by an executive committee and board of directors representing different sectors of our community: business, education, faith, family, and government. An active network of volunteers works diligently to introduce and implement character development to others throughout the Prattville-Autauga area.
